Oracle announced updates to its midrange and high-end Sparc servers. The new products display impressive performance and speed, surpassing IBM Intel-based Unix servers based on Oracle’s benchmarks.
Oracle has seen a steady drop in market share and revenue over the past couple of years, but CEO Larry Ellison and President Mark Hurd said they expected growth to return this fiscal year. Oracle’s hardware business sales has been shrinking and it is unlikely these new products will lead to growth.
