Ericsson confirmed that they will be going forward with a $1B contract with Reliance Communications. This managed services agreement will cover a total of eight years, during which time Ericsson will operate a portion of Reliance’s wireless and wireline networks in Southern Asia.
Reliance already awarded a $1B contract to Alcatel-Lucent weeks ago to manage in the South and East of India, while Ericsson will be handling regions to the North and West. This contract marks a great opportunity for Reliance to reconfigure their cost structure and for Ericsson to expand their managed services business even further.
