Gartner predicts that global device sales will continue to grow in 2013. It expects an increase of 7.9 percent and the sector attaining sales of $718 billion. Mobile phones will drive much of the increase.
All device sectors are expected to remain viable, but Gartner sees trends that will mean winners and losers. Mobile phones will take market share from PCs, servers will lose to storage, and licensed software will give ground to the cloud.
