PC sales are falling, tablets are way up. The question being asked is the personal computer dead as a format? The prevailing thought is that tablet sales are replacing desktops. In a review of small and midsized business (SMB) this view is challenged as being incorrect. The idea is that while those wanting ease of use may be migrating to tablets but SMBs are not. Those SMBs buying tablets are buying them as new purchases not replacements. Roughly 75% of businesses are buying them to accompany PCs this can be seen as in part due to the fact PCs tasks and daily uses cannot be replicated by tablets. Also many businesses are keeping their computers as long as possible and not replacing them when it’s needed.
