Cable companies are trying to end free travel on the internet called net neutrality. By charging individual companies for the packets that flow through their wires, Verizon and other carriers are trying to increase the costs charged to certain heavy providers. Heavy use websites like Google, Youtube, or Netflix would be charged increase rates to send their packets to consumers. This would also allow carriers to steer consumers to websites that they approve of effectively ending fairness on the internet.
